Quilty Greetings from Alaska
07/17/01

Our photos are back from Alaska! Besides quilting our hearts out at sea, my family and I got to see majestic whales tossing and twisting in the ocean and climb on glaciers ...How cool is that? As for next years cruise with Quilt Celebration... Mark your calendars for October 19 - 26th, 2002. We will be heading off to the Mexican Riviera ...I'll post information when details are available :0).
Alex meets the locals of Skagway. She decides the winters must be REALLY long!

Adair's Grad Quilt
07/09/01

Graduation was a hit and my daughter loved her quilt.... It was a total surprise! The squares and photos were based on a three inch grid. Sandy Bonsib did the photo transferring and my friend Paula Reid machine quilted it. Here is a photo and close up as promised.....:0)

A Gathering of Family and Friends...
06/26/01

... and friends who are practically family. This last weekend Alex put on quite a graduation party for her daughter, Adair... great food, great company, and GREAT entertainment!!! Alex even hired a hypnotist to perform and interact with the crowd. I couldn't BELIEVE the things he had Alex doing!... first she thought she was a dancing chicken, then a melting ice cube (don't ask, you had to be there =) ... we were all rolling on the ground in laughter! My favorite part was when she was hypnotized to remember NONE of the experience, even that the hypnotist was at the party in the first place!
A great time was had by all, and I really enjoyed catching up with friends who go back further than I can remember. I really don't see my favorite boss often enough.

Hah! ... that's what you get for having me write this one ;)

UCSB Grad...
06/22/01

Congratulations to Webmaster Matt in joining the class of 2001 at the esteemed University of Santa Barbara, California. Graduation is a time to be proud of all the things you did in school... well maybe not ALL the things. ;0) Hip Hip Hooray for Matt!

Livermore Rodeo
06/07/01

YEHAW!!!! It's time for the Livermore Rodeo... and guess who was this years team number one Green Horn at the rodeo's pre-event mixer? Yup, it was me! OK, we didn't win, but we didn't come in last place either... 7th place to be exact (out of twenty). Our penning time was 1 min 6 seconds, and the winners were at 38 seconds! And you guys thought I could only quilt... actually maybe I should stick to my day job! LOL!

Upcoming Chat
06/02/01
"See" you Monday, June 4th at 3:00pm EST for another live chat! The following information is from Julia (the webmistress) about some changes.... hope to see you there!

The chats on hgtv.com can be found on our "Chats/Boards" page, formerly named "Advice." You'll see the entry field on the "Chats/Boards" page under the heading "Live Hosted Chats." Enter your name in the blank "Name" field, choose your "Chat Option" -- Java Lite for those using a PC and HTML for those on a Mac -- and then click on "Join." (If you find that one option doesn't work for you, try the other.) Each room in our hosted chats holds only a certain number of people, so you may see questions from people during the chat in rooms other than yours. It is not a totally interactive chat, so you only see certain questions that are passed to the host and not all of the questions asked. If you have questions about the process, e-mail HGTV's Chat Producer using the address webmaster@hgtv.com.

The Latest on the Message Board
05/30/01
As many of you have noticed, the message board is still down. We are trying desperately hard to get the new symbol system up and running. These symbols will really help us all get to know one another even better (as they will link to our bio pages). We will keep you posted on our progress. We realize that this downtime is an inconvenience for everyone, so as not to string this one out, we're setting a deadline for ourselves. The board will be back up and running just in time for Motivation Friday, with or without the symbols!! And as and added "Thank You" for your patience, we have a surprise in store for ya... We can discuss it more in length on the message board, but in a nutshell, we are going to graphically theme every day of the week on the MB. Meaning... on Motivation Friday, there will be a big "Happy Motivation Friday" graphic at the top and bottom of the message board. So what about the other days of the week??? Quilty joke Tuesday, Quilt Trivia Monday (?) .. this is where you come in. We need themes for every day of the week! I'll be gone most of the day Friday, but if you could all discuss and brainstorm amongst yourselves, I'll check in Friday evening and we can decide on an official schedule. In the meantime, you can email me any ideas you might have and I'll get a list going!! Think think THINK ;) -Matt
